Professor Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan is a palaeobiologist in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is a global expert on the microscopic structure of the bones of extinct and extant vertebrates. She holds a PhD from Wits and is a past president of the Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of South African, the University of Cape Town, and The World Academy of Sciences. In 2005, she received the Distinguished Women Scientist Award from the Department of Science and Technology. She is widely published in academic journals and popular media.
