Wales: A Hundred Records is an anthology of the highlights of the careers of the most important recording artists that Wales has ever produced, spanning many decades and music genres, and with recordings in both English and Welsh. Huw Stephens analyses the importance and influence of old favorites such as Ivor Novello, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, Welsh-language heroes Meic Stevens and Dafydd Iwan, threough the rugby anthems of Max Boyce and power ballads of Bonnie Tyler, Cool Cymru bands Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia and Stereophonics to current performers such as Adwaith and Mace the Great.
DJ Huw Stephens is well known throughout the UK for his shows on BBC radio stations Radio 1, Six Music, Radio Wales and Radio Cymru. He has won a BAFTA Cymru award for ‘Best On-Screen Presenter’ for his Welsh-language music documentary film 'Anorac', and has presented multiple programmes for the BBC (including coverage from Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds music festivals, and 'The Story of Welsh Art'), Channel 4 and S4C.
